Oceanology International held its 49th ocean technology marine science exhibition and conference at ExCel London from Tuesday, March 17th-Thursday, March 19th. Sound Metrics’ new wave-themed booth stood front and center with a custom-designed tank and full sonar display that was all about the curves.

Lake Forest Park, Washington - Sound Metrics Corp., the leading provider of diver-held sonar systems, has received an order from Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) for 17 DIDSON Diver-Held Systems.  In their search for disaster victims immediately following the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March, JMSDF, state and local agencies routinely deployed equipment loaned to them by Sound Metrics.

Following an extensive assessment, the U.S. Air Force has selected the DIDSON Diver Held Sonar for use by their CSAR Guardian Angel Teams to meet urgent search and recovery operational requirements. The 17-month assessment, which was characterized as one of the most thorough evaluations concluded for a COTS handheld sonar by a US military agency, also included participation by the US Navy, as well as Florida State University.
