Casting a Net Over a Passing School of Mullet
Students watching DIDSON output gave word to Jon Shenker when and where to cast a net over a passing
school of mullet. The DIDSON movie shows the net descending and capturing some of the fish. It is
interesting to see fish flock to the immediate vicinity as soon as the net is retrieved. Jon guessed
that the commotion reminded the fish of an alligator or other predator attack, and that there’d be a lot of scraps
to scavenge. There are a lot of alligators in the central, eastern coast of Florida.
